Began her career in the hospitality industry 30 years ago at the front desk of New York
City's original boutique hotel, Morgans. Her innate understanding of service guided her
through various positions, from hotel concierge to
housekeeping office coordinator to room service manager and finally to the sales and
marketing department. Within two years, Walker found herself working directly with Morgans
Hotel Group founder Ian Schrager.
She brought her varied experience and creative point of view to a wide array of
projects, from overseeing photo shoots for a new hotel opening to creating the company's
guest loyalty program and spearheading the enormous
task of creating the company's website. She was eventually named Creative Director and Chief
Marketing Officer and oversaw seven departments, including hotel marketing, public
relations, special events, partnerships, creative
services, licensing and digital marketing. Her responsibilities included conceptualizing
uniform designs and logos, launching a new culture website and shaping overall brand
positioning for the portfolio. Walker opened 13 hotels
for Morgans Hotel Group in the U.S. and abroad. In 2014, Kim opened SIDEWORK, a boutique creative agency which specialized in Brand Development and Marketing for companies such as Ian Schrager Company, Sixty Hotels, Arlo, and The Asbury. In 2017, Kim returned to Ian Schrager Company to oversee the brand, marketing, public relations, and special event efforts of Ian Schrager's new hotel brand, PUBLIC. Walker's work is driven by her passion for
preserving core brand DNA while always looking to see what else might be possible for a
brand.
Walker was born and raised in Miami, where she currently resides with her two
children. She graduated from Boston University with a major in finance and a minor in
hospitality.
